Meta launches AI app with Llama 4 voice features
New app offers image generation, voice chat, and cross-device access
Meta has introduced a standalone AI assistant app powered by its latest Llama 4 model. This app integrates with Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, offering features like voice interaction and a “Discover” feed to see how others engage with AI. The app leverages user data from social platforms to personalize responses. A paid subscription for advanced chatbot features is expected to roll out later this year.
Llama 4 API for Developers
At its inaugural LlamaCon developer conference, Meta unveiled an API for its Llama 4 AI models. This move aims to simplify integration for developers, allowing them to incorporate Meta’s AI into their products with minimal code. The API is currently in limited preview, with broader access planned.
A Discover feed is included in the app, allowing users to view, share, or remix popular prompts. Integration with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses has also been announced, enabling users to seamlessly switch conversations between devices.
On desktop, Meta AI has received an upgrade too — with voice interaction, an enhanced image generator, and experimental document creation tools, including a rich editor and PDF export.
